Tehran, the capital of Iran, and the western city of Karaj were shaken by the sound of explosions, according to a report by Reuters. The blasts are believed to be linked to recent Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian military facilities. The Israeli military, in a statement, claimed that its air force conducted strikes on 12 missile launch and storage sites in Iran, as reported by Al Jazeera.
In response, Major General Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi, the commander of Iran’s armed forces, announced “punitive” operations against Israel. Citing Iran’s state-run Press TV, Mousavi stated that the operations conducted so far were merely warnings, and a punitive response would soon be implemented.
Meanwhile, Iran has launched radar-evading missiles targeting an Israeli intelligence facility. Iran’s Defense Ministry claimed that these missiles successfully penetrated multiple layers of air defense systems. Brigadier General Reza Talaei-Nik, the ministry’s spokesperson, stated, “In today’s attack, we used missiles that could not be detected or intercepted.” He warned that the operation was an “unexpected” event for Israel and that more such incidents would follow.
Talaei-Nik further emphasized that Israel is not prepared for a prolonged conflict, whereas Iran’s military is highly advanced. He noted that Iran has yet to deploy its full military capabilities.
