Iran Claims Downing 28 Israeli Warplanes, Israel Dismisses as Propaganda

Tehran, June 18, 2025: Iran's military has claimed that it identified and neutralized 28 "enemy aircraft" within the past 24 hours, including a spy drone allegedly collecting intelligence over sensitive areas, according to Al Jazeera. The Iranian armed forces further asserted that they previously shot down multiple Israeli F-35 stealth fighter jets and other drones. However, no concrete evidence, such as satellite imagery of wreckage or verification from neutral sources, has been provided to substantiate these claims.

Israel has categorically rejected Iran's assertions, labeling them "false" and "propaganda." The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that no aircraft or crew have been harmed in their ongoing operations in Iran. IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Efi Defrin emphasized that Israel has achieved complete air superiority over Tehran’s airspace.
Since June 13, Israel has been conducting extensive airstrikes in Iran, targeting its air defense systems and military installations using F-35 stealth jets. In retaliation, Iran has launched over 100 missiles targeting Israel.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on his Truth Social platform that the U.S. has gained full control over Iran’s airspace and identified the location of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. In his post, Trump described Khamenei as an "easy target" but clarified that no plans are in place to assassinate him "at least for now." He also warned that U.S. patience is wearing thin, emphasizing a desire to avoid missile attacks on civilians or American troops.
