Former Israeli Minister Threatens Pakistan’s Nuclear Program Amid Middle East Tensions

Amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, a former Israeli minister has issued a provocative threat against Pakistan, a nuclear-armed nation. Meir Masri, a former Israeli Deputy Defense Minister and member of the Labour Party’s Central Committee, stated that Israel may focus on dismantling Pakistan’s nuclear program once its campaign against Iran concludes.

According to a report by Pakistan’s Express Tribune on June 19, 2025, Masri posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) in Arabic and Urdu, saying, “After Iran’s campaign, we may seek to dismantle Pakistan’s nuclear program.” He further added, “Pakistan is not far from Iran. Your perception is sufficient.” Although Masri no longer holds an official government position, he remains an influential figure in Israel’s political and strategic circles, particularly within the Labour Party.
The remarks have sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many users condemning Masri’s statement and expressing solidarity with Pakistan. Some argued that such provocative rhetoric only strengthens Pakistan’s national unity and resilience. Others highlighted Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities as a credible deterrent against potential aggression.
In response to rising tensions, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, issued a stern warning to Israel on June 16, 2025, stating, “Our message is clear—Israel should not dare to look toward Pakistan.” He emphasized that Pakistan remains fully vigilant and prepared to counter any aggression.
Unverified rumors circulating on social media claimed Pakistan had threatened a nuclear response against Israel in retaliation for attacks on Iran. However, Pakistani authorities have officially denied these claims.
The ongoing Iran-Israel conflict has heightened tensions across the Middle East, with both nations engaging in retaliatory strikes, resulting in casualties. Masri’s remarks have further complicated the regional dynamics, drawing attention to Pakistan’s strategic position as a nuclear power.
