Houthi Rebels Threaten to Attack U.S. Ships in Red Sea if Washington Strikes Iran

Yemen's armed Houthi group has warned that U.S. ships navigating the Red Sea will become targets if the United States launches an attack on Iran. This was reported by Qatar-based news outlet Al Jazeera on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
Quoting the group’s military spokesperson, the report stated that if the U.S. directly engages in the Iran-Israel conflict, the Houthis will target American vessels in the Red Sea. In a statement published by Yemen’s state media, the spokesperson emphasized, “Our stance against ‘Zionist aggression’ targeting any Arab or Islamic nation is firm and clear.”
Previously, in May, the United States and the Houthis had agreed to a ceasefire, pledging not to attack each other. Notably, since 2023, the Houthis have been launching attacks on Israel and Western-affiliated ships in the Red Sea in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
