The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations commence today, Thursday (June 26), across the country. The written exams will begin at 10 AM with the Bangla First Paper and continue until August 10, followed by practical exams.
This year, a total of 1,251,111 students, including regular and irregular candidates, are participating under nine general education boards, the Madrasa Education Board, and the Technical Education Board. Compared to last year, the number of examinees has decreased by over 81,000, marking the lowest participation in the last three years. Notably, more than 425,000 students who passed the SSC exams two years ago and enrolled in higher secondary programs have not registered for this year’s exams.
Over 1,055,000 students are appearing for the HSC exams under the nine general education boards, a decrease of approximately 73,000 compared to last year. The Madrasa Board’s Alim exams will see over 86,000 examinees, down by about 2,000. The Technical Education Board has over 109,000 candidates, a reduction of around 7,000.
The exams will be held at 2,797 centers nationwide. To ensure a fair examination environment, the Ministry of Education has ordered the closure of all coaching centers until August 15.
Full Curriculum for Next Year’s Exams
The National Curriculum and Textbook Board has announced that students admitted to Class XI in the 2024-25 academic year will appear for the HSC, Alim, and equivalent exams in May-June 2026. These exams will be conducted based on the full curriculum, with full marks and duration for all subjects.
