The interim government has issued a circular declaring 8 August as ‘New Bangladesh’ Day. The circular was issued by the General Section of the Cabinet Division on Wednesday (June 25).
According to the circular, 8 August will be observed annually as ‘New Bangladesh’ Day. Following a decision made by the Cabinet Division on 21 October last year regarding the observance of national and international days, this day has been categorized as a ‘Class B’ day.
Notably, on 5 August 2024, a mass uprising led to the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government, and three days later, on 8 August, the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus took oath.
