Iran Issues Counter-Threat After US Strikes, Israel Closes Airspace

International Desk, June 22, 2025: Tensions have escalated in the Middle East following US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. The attacks, conducted under the cover of night, prompted a strong response from Iran, which declared every American citizen and soldier in the region a legitimate target. In response to the heightened situation, Israel has closed its airspace indefinitely.

Iranian state television announced, “Every American citizen and soldier in the region is now a legitimate target for attack.” This statement follows a warning from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who cautioned the US against military involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict, warning of irreparable losses.
US President Donald Trump confirmed the strikes on Truth Social, stating, “We have successfully completed our operation targeting three of Iran’s nuclear facilities.” In response, Israel has gone on high alert, suspending educational activities, banning public gatherings, and halting non-essential operations. The Israeli airport authority confirmed that the country’s airspace is closed for both incoming and outgoing flights, though land borders with Egypt and Jordan remain open.
According to Anadolu Agency and Al Jazeera, the strikes have heightened tensions in the region, raising fears of further escalation.
