Iran Preparing to Attack U.S. Military Bases in the Middle East

Iran is preparing to strike U.S. military bases in the Middle East, equipping itself with missiles and other military resources. According to a report published by The New York Times on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, U.S. intelligence officials have confirmed that Iran is readying these attacks in anticipation of potential U.S. involvement in the ongoing conflict with Israel.
The report states that the U.S. has deployed around three dozen fuel supply aircraft to Europe, which could be used to extend the range of fighter jets protecting U.S. bases or bombers targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities. U.S. officials fear that if Israel calls for White House intervention in the conflict, the risk of a larger war could escalate.
Iran-backed Houthi rebels may resume attacks on ships in the Red Sea, while Iran-supported militias in Iraq and Syria could attempt strikes on U.S. bases. Additionally, Iran may lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz to trap U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf as part of its strategy.
High alerts have been issued at U.S. military bases in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. The U.S. has over 40,000 troops stationed across the Middle East. Two Iranian officials revealed that if the U.S. joins Israel’s war, Iran will initially target U.S. bases in Iraq, and any U.S. bases in Arab countries involved in attacks will also become targets.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated, “Our enemies should know that they cannot impose their will on us through military attacks.” He added that Israel and its main supporters would be held responsible if the war spreads.
