Iran Rejects U.S. Proposal, Plans New Nuclear Deal

Tehran, June 09, 2025: Iran has declared the recent U.S. nuclear proposal unacceptable and announced plans to propose a new nuclear agreement. The proposal will be conveyed to Washington and other relevant parties through Oman. This was stated by Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Ismail Baghaei, during a press conference in Tehran on Monday.

Baghaei said, “The U.S. proposal is not acceptable to us as it does not align with the framework of previous negotiations. We are now preparing a rational, balanced, and logical proposal.” He further emphasized that Iran seeks assurances of benefiting from the international economy and banking system, as well as normalized foreign trade, before sanctions are lifted.
According to a Reuters report, the U.S. proposal in late May faced disagreements over uranium enrichment, the transfer of stockpiled uranium abroad, and the framework for lifting sanctions. Iranian diplomats noted that the lack of clarity on these key issues led to the rejection of the proposal.
Addressing the international community, Baghaei stated, “Countries that question Iran’s peaceful nuclear program are the same ones supporting Israel’s military nuclear program. We call for Israel’s disarmament.”
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, labeled the U.S. proposal as “against national interests” and reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to continuing uranium enrichment. The 2015 nuclear deal, signed with six world powers, was abandoned by the U.S. in 2018, leading to reimposed sanctions. In response, Iran gradually breached the deal’s limits, increasing uranium enrichment.
Baghaei noted that the date for the sixth round of nuclear talks has not yet been determined.
