International Desk, 06 June, 2025 : Iran has secretly ordered a large quantity of ballistic missile components from China, sufficient to produce approximately 800 missiles, according to a report by The Times of Israel, citing The Wall Street Journal.
The report states that Iran is undertaking this initiative to bolster its military capabilities and proxy network. Tehran, through its Pishgaman Tejarat Rafi Novin company, has ordered ammonium perchlorate from Hong Kong-based Lion Commodities Holdings Limited, a key ingredient used in solid-fuel missile production. These materials are expected to arrive in Iran in the coming months.
The deal was reportedly finalized before U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal for nuclear talks with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Some of these components may be supplied to Iran-backed proxy groups, such as Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who recently launched ballistic missiles toward Israel.
Following Israeli strikes in October that damaged Iran’s missile production facilities, the country is working to repair its factories. The Israeli attack destroyed nearly a dozen planetary mixers used for mixing missile components. Additionally, Iran is revitalizing its air defense systems.
Neither Iran’s UN mission nor China’s foreign ministry responded to requests for comment. China stated that it maintains strict controls over dual-use materials in accordance with its export regulation.
