Israel Seeks Swift End to Iran Conflict After Strikes on Nuclear Sites, Awaits Tehran’s Response

Backed by the United States, Israel, under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, aims to swiftly resolve its ongoing conflict with Iran following extensive strikes on Tehran’s nuclear and ballistic missile facilities. According to a Monday report by The Wall Street Journal, Israel has conveyed this message to Iran through U.S. Arab allies.

Citing Israeli and Arab officials, the report states that Israel is ready to end the conflict, but the decision now rests with Iran. Israel’s Channel 12 reported that Tel Aviv is planning to neutralize Iran’s nuclear and missile threats through a military operation dubbed “Operation Rising Lion.” Israel believes it is close to achieving its strategic objectives.
Arab officials told The Wall Street Journal that Iran is unwilling to agree to a ceasefire until it can fully respond to U.S. and Israeli strikes. An Israeli official, speaking to The Times of Israel, said, “If Iran halts its nuclear program, we can stop the bombings immediately. It’s entirely Iran’s call.”
Israeli media outlet Walla reported that Monday’s strikes on Tehran’s government facilities were a warning: if Iran continues missile attacks, Israel will escalate its response. Security sources noted that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s insistence on resistance remains the primary obstacle to a ceasefire.
On Sunday, Netanyahu stated that Israel has inflicted significant damage on Iran’s ballistic missile and nuclear facilities, positioning itself on the verge of achieving its strategic goals. He emphasized that Israel does not seek a prolonged war but will continue operations until its objectives are met.
Channel 12 outlined two potential paths to end the conflict: Israel could unilaterally declare its goals achieved, or the U.S. could formally announce a mutual ceasefire. Israel, however, views the latter as less favorable.
Israel hopes that joint U.S.-Israeli strikes will compel Iran to abandon its nuclear program. Tel Aviv has warned that any attempt by Iran to restart its nuclear activities will prompt further military action
