Israeli Forces Fire on Starving Civilians in Gaza, 130 Killed: International Community Expresses Concern

International Desk, 09 June, 2025 : In the blockaded Gaza Strip, at least 130 people have been killed and over 1,000 injured due to Israeli forces firing on starving civilians attempting to collect humanitarian aid. According to the Gaza government media office, these casualties occurred over the past two weeks at aid distribution centers operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).

The GHF, an organization backed by Israel and the United States, began overseeing aid distribution in Gaza in late May. However, its operations have been marred by incidents of violence, with Israeli forces reportedly opening fire on desperate and famine-stricken civilians at these distribution sites. The Gaza media office has condemned the GHF, stating it does not serve humanitarian purposes but is instead being used as a tool to impose pressure, starvation, and violence on civilians. They have urged the international community to remain vigilant against the organization’s misleading actions and false information.
Additionally, a ship named ‘Madeline’ operated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), a Palestinian-supported international humanitarian group tasked with delivering food and aid to Gaza, was intercepted by the Israeli navy in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea. The 12 crew members, including Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg and French parliamentarian Rima Hassan, were detained and taken to Israel. Israel’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the detentions, stating that the crew is safe and being provided with food and water, while describing the incident as a “staged drama” now under control.
These incidents of violence against civilians seeking aid and the interception of humanitarian missions have sparked deep concern globally. Analysts emphasize the urgent need for the international community to take active steps to address the ongoing violence and ensure unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza’s starving populatin.
