Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) has arrested six individuals, including the mastermind, in connection with a daring daylight robbery of a money exchange businessman in Mirpur, where Tk 22 lakh was looted. The arrests were made during raids conducted across various areas of the capital on Tuesday (June 17) night. The police recovered the looted money, foreign firearms, and a vehicle from the suspects.
According to DB sources, on May 27, six robbers intercepted the victim near the Mirpur-10 roundabout while he was heading to his money exchange office. The incident occurred on the road between the stadium’s swimming pool and the fire service station, where the robbers fired shots and fled with Tk 22 lakh. Following an investigation, DB arrested one suspect in Dhaka, whose confession led to the apprehension of the remaining accomplices from different districts.
The arrested individuals are professional criminals who became acquainted while serving time in jail for various cases. Further details regarding the incident will be disclosed at a press conference scheduled for Wednesday (June 18) at 2:00 PM at the DMP Media centre.
