A grand rally organized by Islami Andolan Bangladesh began at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital, centered around three key demands. On Saturday (June 28), the event commenced at 10 AM with the recitation of the Quran, marking the start of the first phase. The main session began at 2 PM, with the atmosphere resonating with chants of “Naraye Takbir, Allahu Akbar.”
Despite intermittent rain in the capital after 3 PM, leaders and activists of Islami Andolan Bangladesh continued the rally, undeterred by the weather. From early morning, party activists from various districts and metropolitan areas joined the rally in small processions, raising slogans of “Naraye Takbir, Allahu Akbar.” The demands of the movement include reforms, justice, and elections based on proportional representation (PR).
Speeches were delivered by leaders from different districts and metropolitan areas. In the afternoon, a five-member delegation led by Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General, Professor Mia Golam Parwar, and a three-member delegation led by National Citizens Party (NCP) Member Secretary Aktar Hossain joined the rally.
