Negligence in HSC Question Paper Distribution: Center Secretary Relieved of Duties

 


Dhaka, June 26, 2025: On the first day of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations, the Dhaka Education Board relieved the officer-in-charge of a Dhaka examination center from their duties due to allegations of negligence in the distribution of question papers. The decision was formalized in an order signed by Professor S.M. Kamal Uddin Haider, Controller of Examinations, Dhaka Education Board, on Thursday night.
The incident occurred at the Dhaka-9 center (Center Code: 512), Nawab Habibullah Model School and College, during the distribution of the Bangla First Paper (101) question paper. The officer-in-charge, Mirza Mahmuda, who was serving as the acting principal of the institution, faced accusations of negligence in her duties. Consequently, she was removed from her role as center secretary. Assistant Professor Harunur Rashid from the English Department of the same institution has been appointed as the new officer-in-charge.
The Dhaka Education Board has notified the district administration, the Ministry of Education, and other relevant authorities about the incident.
Notably, the 2025 HSC and equivalent examinations commenced simultaneously across the country on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Approximately 12.51 lakh students are participating in the exams across 2,797 centers under 11 education boards. On the first day, 19,759 students were absent, and 43 were expelled for breaching discipline. According to the board’s published routine, the HSC and equivalent exams will continue until August 10, with practical exams scheduled from August 11 to 21.
