North Korea Strongly Condemns U.S. Strikes on Iran, Calls It a Breach of International Law, Blames Israel for Middle East Tensions

North Korea has issued a strong condemnation of the recent U.S. military strikes on Iran, labeling them a severe violation of international law and holding Israel responsible for escalating tensions in the Middle East. This was reported by Jordan-based news outlet Roya News on Monday, June 23.
In a statement published by North Korea’s state media, a spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared, “The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea strongly condemns the U.S. attack on Iran, which gravely violates the principles of sovereignty outlined in the UN Charter.” The spokesperson further described the airstrikes as an aggressive act that infringes on Iran’s sovereign rights and contradicts UN principles. North Korea attributed the current tensions in the Middle East to Israel’s “reckless adventurism.”
Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed that “punishment will continue” against Israel. In a statement posted on the social media platform X, he stated, “The Zionist enemy has made a grave mistake and committed a serious crime; it must be punished, and it is being punished.” The post included an image of a burning skull against a backdrop of a flaming building, marked with the Star of David, a symbol associated with Israel.
On June 13, Israel conducted an attack on Iran, causing extensive damage to nuclear, military, and residential areas, resulting in over 400 Iranian deaths, including senior military officials, nuclear scientists, and civilians. In response, Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes on Israel under “Operation True Promise Three,” conducting 20 rounds of attacks by June 22. On Sunday, the U.S. struck three Iranian nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social, “We have successfully completed our highly effective strikes on Iran’s three nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. All aircraft are now outside Iranian airspace.”
