09 June, 2025 : Sonargaon in Narayanganj buzzed with excitement during the Eid holidays as Panam City and Sonargaon Museum drew thousands of domestic and international tourists. Siam Chowdhury, Assistant Custodian of the Department of Archaeology, reported that the turnout of visitors met expectations. Tourists flocked to experience the historic charm of Panam City, with sufficient Ansar and Tourist Police deployed to ensure their safety.
Upazila Executive Officer Farzana Rahman told Kalbela, “The development of several new tourist attractions in Sonargaon has made Panam City, Sonargaon Museum, and other recreational spots vibrant with visitors.” She added that, in addition to the authorities’ own security arrangements, extra measures have been implemented through local police, Ansar, and Tourist Police to safeguard tourists at these sites.
During the Eid holidays, Sonargaon’s heritage sites have emerged as popular destinations, further enriching the local tourism industry.
