Doha, June 24, 2025: Qatar has strongly condemned a missile attack by Iran on the US military base at Al Udeid, accusing Tehran of violating its sovereignty and airspace. The Gulf nation has warned that it may consider severing diplomatic ties with Iran if such attacks occur in the future.
On Monday night, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched six missiles targeting the Al Udeid airbase in response to a US strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities the previous day. No damage was reported at the US base.
In response, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Iran’s ambassador in Doha on Tuesday, condemning the attack as a “serious violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace.” Qatari officials warned that any future reckless attacks on its territory could lead to the termination of diplomatic relations with Tehran.
Qatar has also sent a letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the UN Security Council, condemning the attack. A copy of the letter was shared on the social media platform X.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry emphasized that Doha has consistently supported Tehran in international discussions. However, it warned that continued “reckless” attacks would force Qatar to reconsider its diplomatic ties with Iran.
