Russia’s Medvedev Claims Countries Ready to Supply Iran with Nuclear Weapons After U.S. Strikes

Moscow, June 22, 2025: Former Russian President and current Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has claimed that several countries are prepared to directly supply Iran with nuclear warheads following recent U.S. military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Medvedev asserted that the U.S. attacks on Iran’s Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow nuclear sites have backfired, contrary to the objectives outlined by former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Medvedev stated, “The U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities have achieved the opposite of Trump’s stated goals. These attacks have paved the way for Iran to enrich nuclear materials and, one could now say, produce nuclear weapons.” He further claimed that the strikes have strengthened Iran’s political leadership, uniting even those who were previously neutral or opposed to the government around the country’s spiritual leadership.
The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a strong condemnation of the U.S. strikes, calling them a “gross violation of international law, the UN Charter, and UN Security Council resolutions.” In a statement, the ministry demanded an end to the aggression and urged all parties to return to political and diplomatic solutions.
The claims and reactions come amid heightened tensions in the region, raising concerns about the potential escalation of nuclear proliferation and conflict.
