Galachipa (Patuakhali), June 13, 2025: Tension gripped Galachipa Upazila of Patuakhali district after an attack and vandalism at the Union BNP office. In connection with the incident, Nurul Haque Nur, president of Gana Adhikar Parishad, was confined by local BNP leaders and activists for nearly four hours. A joint force rescued Nur around 3 a.m. last night and brought him to Galachipa.Meanwhile, both BNP and Gana Adhikar Parishad announced protest marches in the Galachipa municipal area at nearly the same time, escalating fears of potential clashes. To prevent any untoward incidents, Galachipa Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan imposed Section 144. Announcements were made via loudspeakers to inform the public about the order.
Local sources reported that tensions remain high between the two groups following the attack on the BNP office. The administration has deployed additional law enforcement personnel to maintain order in the area.
