Dhaka, June 21, 2025: A significant seminar titled "Budget FY25-26 in the Context of LDC Graduation" was organized today by Research And Policy Integration For Development (RAPID) in collaboration with UK International Development at Six Seasons Hotel, Gulshan, from 10:30 AM to 2:50 PM. The seminar aimed to discuss the implications of Bangladesh’s upcoming LDC (Least Developed Country) graduation in the context of the FY25-26 budget.
The event saw the participation of approximately 60-70 distinguished individuals, including representatives from government, private sector, academia, and research organizations. Notable attendees included Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud, Honorable Advisor to the Ministry of Planning; Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce; Dr. Manjur Hossain, Research Director at BIDS and Member of GED; Mr. Aminul Arefin, Program Manager at UNDP; Mr. Md. Said Islam and Tanzila Afrin, Assistant Professors at BUP; Mr. Sakhawat Hossain Masum, Head of Online at Prothom Alo; Dr. Rubana Huq, Vice Chancellor of Asian University for Women and former President of BGMEA; Mr. Md. Fazle Shamim Ehsan, Executive President of BKMEA; Mr. Bidya Amrit Khan, Vice President of BKMEA; Daulat Akter Mala, President of ERF; and Zara Mostafa, Associate at RAPID.
The seminar featured in-depth discussions on the challenges of LDC graduation, budget allocation strategies, economic stability, and sustainable development. Speakers highlighted the opportunities and risks in Bangladesh’s trade, industry, and export sectors post-LDC graduation, offering valuable insights for policymakers and stakeholders.
