Bangladesh, China, and Pakistan Agree to Form Tripartite Alliance

 

In a significant development in international relations, Bangladesh, China, and Pakistan have reached a consensus to establish a tripartite alliance aimed at fostering cooperation. The decision was made during a foreign ministerial-level meeting held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, on Friday, June 20, 2025. The three nations agreed to form a joint working group to facilitate collaborative efforts.

The meeting was attended by Bangladesh’s Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique, China’s Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, and Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary Imran Ahmed Siddiqui. Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch also participated in the initial session via video link, commending China for convening the inaugural meeting of the tripartite process. She highlighted the shared aspirations of the three nations for people-centric development and emphasized Pakistan’s desire for deeper engagement with South Asian countries.
Expressing satisfaction with the upward trajectory of bilateral relations, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch outlined Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing ties with China and Bangladesh in areas such as trade and investment, agriculture, digital economy, environmental protection, marine sciences, green infrastructure, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
All parties agreed that the tripartite cooperation would be guided by principles of openness, inclusivity, good neighborliness, mutual respect, and trust, with a focus on achieving win-win outcomes. To implement the agreements reached during the meeting, the three countries committed to establishing a joint working team.
This alliance marks a new chapter in regional cooperation, with the potential to unlock new opportunities for economic and social development among the three nations.
