Jatiya Party Chairman Golam Mohammad Quader has stated that the current government is gearing up for a one-sided election in the style of Sheikh Hasina, but it will not succeed. He emphasized that any election excluding political forces representing nearly 50 percent of the population will not gain acceptance domestically or internationally.
Speaking at a meeting with Munshiganj district Jatiya Party leaders at the party’s Banani office on Thursday (June 12, 2025), Quader said such elections can never be considered free and fair. He noted that a significant portion of the population loses interest in voting in such elections, resulting in low voter turnout. He further alleged that in these elections, fake votes are used to secure victories for candidates through money, muscle power, and government influence.
Quader warned that such elections will fail to achieve legitimacy both at home and abroad, making it impossible to establish a credible government or ensure political stability. He added that this would not address the country’s ongoing economic crisis or deteriorating law and order situation, pushing the nation toward further chaos.
The meeting was chaired by Jatiya Party General Secretary Md. Mujibul Haque Chunnu. Among others, Presidium members Barrister Shameem Haider Patwary, Alamgir Shikder Loton, Liaquat Hossain Khoka, Jahurul Islam Jahir, Monirul Islam Milan, Jasimuddin Bhuiyan, Arifur Rahman Khan, and various other leaders were present.
