44th BCS Candidates Protest Against Final Result and Demand PSC Reforms

On Friday, July 4, 2025, candidates of the 44th BCS examination held a protest rally in front of the Central Library of Dhaka University at 3:30 PM, demanding reforms in the Public Service Commission (PSC) and expressing dissatisfaction with the final results of the 44th BCS, which they termed a "farce." Prior to the rally, the candidates organized a protest march across the campus.

Bin Yamin Molla, a spokesperson for the 44th BCS candidates, criticized the interim government for failing to address PSC reforms despite political parties focusing on power transitions. He stated, "The interim government has mocked the 44th BCS candidates. They have repeated over 800 posts, destroying job opportunities and dreams of 800 young aspirants. While the 45th BCS candidates were given the option for cadre re-choice, the 44th BCS candidates were denied this opportunity. Why are we being discriminated against? What is our fault?"

Rashed Kabir, another BCS candidate, accused the interim government of state-sponsored deception and injustice. He pointed out that instead of increasing the number of posts, the PSC appointed candidates to the same positions twice. Rashed Kabir presented four key demands for PSC reforms: 1. Re-publish the 44th BCS results, discarding the alleged farce. 2. Abolish Non-Cadre Rule 23 and, if possible, ensure jobs for all viva-qualified candidates. 3. Publish preliminary, written, and viva marks for transparency. 4. Provide reasonable preparation time for all BCS examinations. The protesters warned of launching a tougher movement if their demands are not met.
