Couple Achieves Parenthood After 18 Years with AI-Powered Technology

A couple who struggled for 18 years to conceive a child has finally received joyful news, thanks to cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Despite multiple attempts at fertility clinics and repeated in-vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures, the couple had faced constant disappointment. However, a breakthrough AI-based technology transformed their fortunes in just one hour, as reported by CNN on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

According to the report, the couple had visited fertility clinics across the world, undergoing numerous IVF cycles without success. The primary obstacle was the husband’s rare condition called azoospermia, where no viable sperm is present in the semen. Typically, a man’s semen contains millions of sperm, but in cases of azoospermia, even hours of microscopic analysis often fail to detect any sperm, making natural conception nearly impossible. As a final effort, the couple turned to the Columbia University Fertility Center in New York, where an advanced AI-based technology called STAR (Sperm Tracking and Recovery) was employed. This innovative system uses AI to detect even the tiniest, hidden sperm in a semen sample. In this case, the AI analyzed the husband’s sample and identified just three healthy sperm. These were then used to fertilize the wife’s eggs through IVF, leading to a successful pregnancy. The couple is now expecting their first child in December. Reflecting on the experience, the woman shared, “After years of disappointment, we had lost all hope. When I found out I was pregnant, I couldn’t believe it for two days. Even now, I wake up every morning asking myself if this is really happening.”
