A court has ordered the imprisonment of three individuals arrested in connection with an attack on Motijheel Police Station in Dhaka and obstructing government duties, under the Speedy Trial Act.The accused, identified as Mohsin Reza (45), Rimon Khan (21), and Rayhan Khan (22), were produced before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Thursday. The investigating officer requested their detention until the investigation is complete. Following the plea, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atikur Rahman ordered their imprisonment.
According to the case details, on the night of July 30, the accused, along with others, unlawfully gathered and attempted to enter the police station. When an on-duty police officer tried to stop them, they pushed him aside and entered the premises. They then proceeded to the office of the Officer-in-Charge (Investigation), shouting loudly and demanding an explanation, saying, “How dare you send police to the Banglar Bani office?” They also banged on the table, causing panic among citizens present at the station for services.
Upon receiving information about the incident, additional police forces arrived at the scene and arrested the three individuals, while others managed to flee. A case was filed under the Speedy Trial Act, naming the three arrested individuals along with 30-40 unidentified persons as accused.
