Case Filed Against Sheikh Rehana’s Son Bobby for Illegal Wealth Acquisition

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, son of Sheikh Rehana, on charges of acquiring illegal wealth worth approximately Tk 3 crore and engaging in suspicious transactions amounting to Tk 12.5 crore.

On Sunday (July 27), the case was filed by ACC’s Deputy Assistant Director Abdullah Al Mamun at the ACC’s Dhaka Integrated District Office. The information was confirmed by ACC Deputy Director Aktarul Islam. According to the case details, Bobby has acquired and possesses assets worth Tk 2.89 crore beyond his known sources of income. These include immovable assets valued at Tk 39.83 lakh and movable assets worth Tk 2.49 crore. Additionally, a flat in Dhaka’s Niketan area, received as a gift from his uncle Tariq Ahmed Siddiq, is valued at Tk 1.73 crore. The FIR states that despite having no business or commercial activities, Bobby deposited Tk 7.48 crore in three bank accounts, of which he withdrew Tk 5 crore. These transactions are deemed unusual and suspicious compared to his legitimate income. Earlier, a court ordered the seizure of 354 decimals of land owned by Bobby and his father, Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Siddiq, valued at Tk 1.95 crore. On Thursday (July 24), Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order following an application by the ACC, confirmed by ACC Assistant Director (Public Relations) Md. Tanjir Ahmed.
The application was filed by ACC Deputy Director Md. Monirul Islam, stating that investigations revealed attempts to transfer or dispose of the immovable assets owned by Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Siddiq and Bobby. The ACC argued that if these assets were transferred before the investigation concluded, it could hinder the probe. The court granted the application to prevent any transfer or disposal of these assets until the investigation is complete.
