Dhaka, July 9, 2025 – The Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, announced that Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim government, has directed law enforcement agencies to complete comprehensive preparations by December for the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
Speaking at a press briefing held on Wednesday night at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital, Shafiqul Alam elaborated on the directives. He stated that discussions focused on preventing any form of violence before and after the elections to ensure a stable law and order situation. The Chief Adviser has also instructed a reshuffling of key administrative officials, including Deputy Commissioners (DCs), Superintendents of Police (SPs), Officers-in-Charge (OCs), and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs), to be conducted randomly.
Shafiqul Alam further noted that approximately 800,000 law enforcement personnel will be deployed for the elections. To ensure a fair and orderly election, all law enforcement members are required to complete their training by December. The Chief Adviser has also emphasized the need for law enforcement agencies to adopt a strict stance in the coming months.
Additionally, discussions were held on the possibility of setting up separate polling booths for voters aged 18–32 to facilitate their participation in the electoral process.
