Rape and Video Recording of Widow in Bhola’s Tajumuddin, Case Filed Against Two Youths

In Tajumuddin, Bhola, a widow has accused two local youths of raping her and recording the act on video. The victim’s brother has filed a case in connection with the incident.

The accused are Gias, son of Kalam Farazi, and Rasel, son of Alam Chowdhury, both residents of Ward No. 4, South Chachra village, Chachra Union, Tajumuddin Upazila.

The case was filed at Tajumuddin Police Station on Sunday (July 6) afternoon, following the incident that occurred on June 10. According to the victim’s complaint, on June 10, her parents were away visiting her grandparents. The victim was at her father’s house with her son. In the middle of the night, when she stepped out to use the toilet, Gias, who was lying in wait, forcibly raped her, while Rasel recorded the assault on video. Subsequently, whenever the victim left her house, the accused made lewd gestures at her. They also threatened to frame her brother with false drug charges if she refused to engage in illicit activities with them. Fearing for her life, the victim kept the incident secret until she disclosed it to her family on Saturday. The victim’s brother, who is also the plaintiff in the case, told Dhaka Post, “Gias and Rasel are our neighbors. On June 10, taking advantage of our parents’ absence, Gias raped my sister, and Rasel recorded the act. My sister kept it hidden all this time, so we were unaware. We have filed a case at Tajumuddin Police Station demanding justice. To prevent such incidents from recurring, we demand the maximum punishment—death penalty—for the accused.” Efforts to contact the accused were unsuccessful. Tajumuddin Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC), Md. Mohabbat Khan, stated, “The victim’s brother has filed a case against Gias and Rasel on charges of rape. Efforts are underway to arrest the accused.”
