Crime: RAB Arrests Notorious Leader of ‘Ayesha Group’ in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur-Adabor Area

Dhaka, July 14, 2025– The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Mo. Asad alias Arshad alias Ayesha (35), the leader of the infamous ‘Ayesha Group,’ along with his accomplice Yusuf (40), in connection with charges of extortion, robbery, drug trafficking, and terrorism in the Mohammadpur and Adabor areas of the capital. The arrests were made on Sunday in Bhakurta, Savar, near Dhaka, as announced in a press release by RAB-2 on Monday.

According to the press release, six sharp weapons were recovered from the suspects. Ayesha is known to be a close associate of the notorious ‘Kobji Kata Group’ and a key ally of top criminal Kobji Kata Anwar. RAB-2 stated that Ayesha and his accomplices have been carrying out terrorist activities in Mohammadpur and surrounding areas for a long time. They targeted less crowded areas during the day to hold pedestrians hostage for robbery and conducted looting operations at homes or moving vehicles at night.

The press release highlighted a recent incident in Adabor where Ayesha allegedly stabbed a young man over a drug trafficking dispute. A video of the incident went viral on social media, causing widespread outrage. Subsequently, on June 30, a case of attempted murder was filed against Ayesha at the Adabor police station. Additionally, Ayesha faces seven other cases related to murder, robbery, theft, and preparation for dacoity. During preliminary interrogation, Ayesha revealed that he started his career as a mason before entering the world of crime under the influence of Kobji Kata Anwar. Known as Anwar’s right-hand man, Ayesha led various criminal activities under his direction. RAB-2 is verifying the information obtained from the two arrestees and stated that such operations to curb crime will continue
