BNP Rejects Politics of Disrespect, Aims to Build New Bangladesh, Says Amir Khasru
Chattogram, July 13, 2025 – Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, a member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) standing committee, declared that BNP does not engage in politics of disrespect and is committed to realizing the people’s dream of building a new Bangladesh. Speaking as the chief guest at a memorial event for BNP’s late vice-chairman and former minister Abdullah Al Noman at the LGD Auditorium in Chattogram’s No. 2 Gate area on Sunday, he emphasized that those obstructing democratic processes and tolerant politics will be rejected by the people.Khasru stated, “After Sheikh Hasina fled, there has been a massive shift in people’s mindset. Political parties or leaders who fail to embrace the aspirations and dreams of the people have no future. If we cannot align with these expectations, it will be difficult for us to engage in politics in the future Bangladesh.” Expressing regret over incidents of disrespect, such as the trampling of images of Ziaur Rahman and Tarique Rahman, he said, “The politics of belittling others through speeches will not work in Bangladesh. Politics must now be based on tolerance and respect, even when disagreeing with others. The people of Bangladesh want tolerance and a new vision for the country. Tarique Rahman is reflecting these dreams without reacting to provocations. BNP’s politics is one of peace, respect, and nation-building, unlike those who foster unrest and disrespect.” He urged BNP leaders and activists to remain patient, tolerant, and respectful of differing opinions, warning that those disrupting the electoral process will face public rejection. The event, chaired by Chattogram city BNP convener Ershad Ullah, was attended by BNP’s national executive committee organizing secretary (Chattogram division) Mahbubur Rahman Shamim, co-organizing secretary Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, former city BNP general secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar, and others. The program was moderated by city BNP member secretary Nazimur Rahman.
