DMP Ensures Robust Security Measures for Jamaat-e-Islami’s National Rally

A national rally organized by Jamaat-e-Islami is currently underway at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has implemented extensive security measures to ensure the event proceeds smoothly. To prevent any untoward incidents and maintain law and order, the DMP has adopted stringent precautionary measures aimed at ensuring a peaceful gathering and safeguarding public safety.

Since Saturday (July 19) morning, police personnel have been stationed at key intersections across the capital. Additionally, a significant number of police officers, both in uniform and plainclothes, have been deployed at the rally venue and surrounding areas.

According to sources, adequate security arrangements have also been made along the roads used by Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists to enter Dhaka. From early morning, groups of Jamaat-e-Islami supporters were seen chanting slogans as they gathered at the rally venue, passing through areas such as Shahbag, Matsya Bhaban, Bangla Motor, Doyel Chattar, and TSC. A sufficient number of law enforcement personnel were present in these areas to ensure that the party’s activists could carry out their political program without disruption and to prevent any undesirable incidents. Police patrols were also observed in these locations.

The DMP has ensured airtight security at the rally venue and its surroundings, with various police units working in coordination. Officers are conducting searches of individuals deemed suspicious. The police are working together to maintain a secure and orderly environment at the venue.

DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman stated, “We have taken adequate security measures for Jamaat-e-Islami’s national rally. A sufficient number of police personnel are deployed at the venue and surrounding areas to ensure no untoward incidents occur. The police have implemented the highest level of security arrangements.”

In addition to law enforcement, Jamaat-e-Islami’s leaders and activists are also taking responsibility for maintaining security and discipline. They are urging party members attending the rally to adhere to guidelines and participate in an orderly manner. The DMP’s Traffic Division has also made adequate traffic arrangements to manage the large gathering. Diversions have been put in place at various points to ensure smooth traffic flow, according to traffic officials. DMP Traffic Ramna Division Additional Deputy Commissioner Kazi Rumana Nasrin commented, “We managed the initial rush in the morning. Large buses carrying activists were not allowed to enter the city center, and the party ensured that buses were parked at a distance, with activists walking to the venue. We have also implemented diversions at certain points.” She added, “We are on the roads to keep traffic flow normal and have taken sufficient measures. However, with such a large gathering, some impact on traffic is inevitable.”

Notably, the main segment of Jamaat-e-Islami’s national rally is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM on Saturday (July 19). The event will be chaired by the party’s Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, with central leaders delivering speeches. With the national election approaching, significant announcements may also be made during the rally.
