DNA Tests Identify Five Victims of Uttara Plane Crash

Dhaka, July 24, 2025: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Bangladesh Police has identified the remains of five victims of a plane crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, through forensic DNA testing. The identities confirmed are Okia Ferdous Nidhi, Lamia Aktar Sonia, Afsana Aktar Priya, Raisa Moni, and Mariam Umme Afia.

CID’s Special Superintendent of Police (Media), Jasim Uddin Khan, confirmed the development on Thursday. He stated that the forensic department collected 11 DNA samples from the five disfigured bodies or remains over the past two days. The identification process was completed shortly before the announcement, with further details to be shared later.

The government had earlier requested family members of missing persons to provide DNA samples at the CID headquarters in Malibagh, Dhaka, for matching purposes, as stated in an official release on Wednesday, July 23.
The death toll from the incident has risen to 32. Many of those injured in the fire caused by the crash remain in critical condition in hospitals.
