Kishoreganj’s Bhairab Upazila police have arrested a shoe factory owner on charges of raping a female worker. The arrest was made around 12:15 AM on Monday from the side of Upazila Complex Road.
The arrested individual, identified as Nasir Mia (42), was sent to Kishoreganj Jail through the court on Tuesday.
According to police, the 25-year-old female worker had been employed at the factory for several years. Nasir developed a relationship with her through regular workplace interactions. He allegedly raped her over several months after luring her with promises of marriage. The woman later became pregnant, but Nasir refused to marry her. Following this, she filed a rape case against him at Bhairab Police Station on Sunday.
The complainant stated, “Nasir wanted to establish a physical relationship with me, but I refused. I tried to protect myself in every way. Eventually, he lured me with promises of marriage and raped me. Now, I am three months pregnant. Filing a case was my only option in this situation.”
Bhairab Police Station’s Inspector (Investigation) Taleb Hossain confirmed that necessary medical examinations of the complainant have been conducted.
