Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested five individuals who were preparing to commit a robbery while impersonating law enforcement officers.
The arrests were made on Wednesday (July 16) night at Bok Chattar in Motijheel by the DB Wari Division.
The arrested individuals are Abdul Mannan (35), Riyad Hossain (37), Abdul Jalil (40), Md. Matiur Rahman Matin Khan alias Matin Chora (37), and Paresh Adhikari (35). However, 4 to 5 other members of the robbery gang managed to escape during the operation.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DB Wari Division, M Nasiruddin, stated that during the arrests, the police seized three black vests with "RAB" written on them, a black walkie-talkie labeled "KENWOOD," and a steel handcuff from the possession of the five robbers.
He further noted that the arrested individuals have multiple cases filed against them, and legal proceedings are underway.
