On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification dismissing Tapasi Tabassum Urmi, a former Assistant Commissioner of the Lalmonirhat District Administration Office, from government service. The dismissal follows a departmental case where allegations of "misconduct" against her were proven, resulting in the severe penalty of termination from service. At the time of her dismissal, Urmi was serving as an Assistant Secretary (OSD) and had been temporarily suspended.
The controversy stems from a widely discussed Facebook post by Urmi, in which she criticized the Interim Government and its Chief Adviser, Dr. Yunus. In the post, she wrote, "The Chief Adviser of the constitutionally baseless interim government has said that the reset button has been pushed. The past has been erased. By clicking the reset button, he has wiped out the entire past history of the country. So easy! The countdown has begun for you, sir."
In addition to this, Urmi made derogatory remarks about Shaheed Abu Sayeed and posted several statuses supporting the government that was ousted by the student-led mass uprising. These actions contributed to the charges of misconduct that led to her dismissal.
