In line with this success, the Dhallywood megastar is reportedly gearing up to star in *Once Upon a Time in Dhaka*, a film delving into the underworld of 1990s Dhaka.
Sources confirm that small-screen director Abu Hayat Mahmud is making his feature film debut with this project, helming *Once Upon a Time in Dhaka*. The screenplay, written by Mezbauuddin Sumon, is based on real events from Dhaka’s underworld during the 1990s.
Early rumors suggested that Shariful Raj or Mosharraf Karim might take on the lead role, but the director did not entirely dismiss those speculations at the time.
Now, in a major development, it has been revealed that Shakib Khan will play the central character, ‘Kala Jahangir.’ Insiders state that preliminary discussions, script reviews, and remuneration agreements have been finalized, with only the formal signing of the contract remaining.
The highly anticipated film is planned for release during Eid-ul-Fitr in 2026, and Shakib Khan has been brought on board with this timeline in mind.
It is also reported that the film will feature actors Tariq Anam Khan, Dilara Zaman, and Shahiduzzaman Selim. However, the female lead opposite Shakib has yet to be confirmed.
