Fugitive Murder Suspect Arrested at Shahjalal Airport

Mohammad Dalim, a fugitive suspect in the murder case of farmer Jahirul Islam in Cumilla’s Titas Upazila, was arrested despite changing his name to evade capture. He was apprehended on Saturday morning at the immigration checkpoint of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

During immigration checks, Dalim’s behavior raised suspicions, leading to his interrogation. He was subsequently handed over to the Airport Police Station, which informed Titas Police Station about the arrest. Dalim, a resident of Manikandi village in Titas Upazila, Cumilla, is the son of former Union Parishad Chairman Abu Mollah. On December 6, 2022, farmer Jahirul Islam was hacked to death in broad daylight in the presence of the then UP Chairman. Dalim had been on the run since the incident. Titas Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahid Ullah stated that Dalim was sent to Cumilla District Jail through the court on Sunday morning. A warrant for his arrest had been issued earlier. Due to confusion regarding his father’s name, the authorities verified and confirmed his identity.
