Gopalganj Incident Was Not Expected to Escalate to This Extent: Home Affairs Adviser

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated that all criminals involved in the Gopalganj incident will be arrested, and no one will be spared.

On Thursday (July 17), he made these remarks in response to a question from journalists at the Home Ministry in the Secretariat.

When asked whether intelligence agencies had prior information about the incident in Gopalganj, the Home Affairs Adviser said, "The agencies had some information, but there was no indication that it would escalate to such a large scale."

In response to allegations from NCP leaders about the failure of law enforcement agencies, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, "You could also say a lot about this. Everyone will have their own statements."

In response to another question, he said, "We issued necessary instructions there yesterday as well. All preparations will be made to ensure such incidents do not happen in the future. The situation there is now normal."

When asked about the arrest of the culprits, he said, "All those who have committed wrongs will be arrested, and no one will be spared."
