It’s no longer a surprise to see India and Pakistan in the same group for major tournaments, and the upcoming Asia Cup is no exception. The two cricketing giants will lock horns in the group stage, with the possibility of meeting again in the Super Six stage. Should both teams advance to the final, fans could witness a third electrifying encounter.
Although the tournament was initially planned to be hosted in India, it has now been shifted to the United Arab Emirates due to recent security concerns, including a terrorist attack in Poonch, Kashmir, and heightened military tensions along the India-Pakistan border. Despite this, India remains the official host, overseeing the planning and organization of the event.
According to the Indian news agency PTI, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has finalized the UAE as the venue, with the tournament likely to commence on September 5, although an official announcement is still awaited.
In the coming days, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, along with ACC and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, will meet to finalize the tournament’s schedule and other details, according to Indian media reports.
