India to Participate in ACC Meeting

Dhaka, July 23, 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to participate in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled to begin tomorrow in Dhaka. Despite earlier uncertainties and objections regarding the venue, a BCCI representative is expected to join the meeting virtually.

Several Indian journalists reported on social media that BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla will attend the ACC meeting online. Confirming this, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam told over the phone, “Rajeev Shukla is expected to represent the BCCI and participate in the meeting online.”

The two-day ACC AGM will commence tomorrow at a hotel in Dhaka. Previously, the BCCI had raised concerns about holding the meeting in Dhaka, requesting a change of venue and threatening to boycott any resolutions if the meeting proceeded in the Bangladeshi capital. Reports suggested that the BCCI warned that the Asia Cup, scheduled for September, might not take place if the venue was not changed. Indian media also claimed that Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Oman cricket boards would join the BCCI in skipping the meeting. However, Afghanistan and Oman have confirmed their participation, while Sri Lanka Cricket chief Shammi Silva, due to illness, will join virtually. With the BCCI’s positive response, uncertainties surrounding the Asia Cup 2025 are expected to be resolved.
