Moulvibazar Chhatra League Vice-President Arrested at Benapole While Traveling to India

Jessore, July 23, 2025: Moulvibazar District Chhatra League Vice-President Abdus Samad, alias Azad (31), was detained by police at the Benapole land port while attempting to travel to India on a medical visa. The arrest took place on Wednesday morning by the Benapole Immigration Police.

Abdus Samad, a resident of Mostafapur village in Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila, is reportedly wanted in connection with seven cases filed at the Moulvibazar Sadar Police Station.

Benapole Immigration Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Elias Hossain Munshi stated, “Around 8 a.m., Abdus Samad arrived at the Benapole land port to travel to India on a medical visa. By 9 a.m., he reached the immigration desk. Based on prior intelligence, he was detained and interrogated. During questioning, he admitted to being an accused in seven cases at Moulvibazar Sadar Police Station. He was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station around 10 a.m.”
Benapole Port Police Station OC Md. Rasel Mia confirmed that the matter was communicated to Moulvibazar Sadar Police Station. “A team from Moulvibazar has left for Benapole, and Abdus Samad will be handed over to them tonight,” he added.
