Israeli Soldiers Killed in Gaza Ground Operation: 31 Dead in Friendly Fire Incidents

At least 31 Israeli soldiers have been killed in friendly fire incidents during the ongoing ground operation in Gaza, according to a report by Israeli Army Radio. The report states that since the ground operation began in October 2023, a total of 440 Israeli soldiers have been killed, with 72 deaths attributed to operational accidents, accounting for approximately 16% of the total casualties.

Of these, 31 soldiers died due to friendly fire, 23 in ammunition-related accidents, 7 were crushed by armored vehicles, and 6 were killed in unidentified shooting incidents. Additionally, since the resumption of military operations on March 18, 32 soldiers have been killed, with two deaths linked to operational accidents. According to the Israeli military, since the Gaza conflict began on October 7, 2023, 882 soldiers have been killed, including the 440 in the ground operation, and 6,032 have been injured. Meanwhile, Gaza’s health authorities report that over 57,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed in the conflict.
A ceasefire facilitated by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt was established in Gaza in January 2024 but collapsed by late March. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, Israel has continued its operations. In November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and a genocide case against him is ongoing at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
