Statement by Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar

Dhaka, July 19, 2025: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar announced that if the people entrust them with state power, they will ensure due respect for the martyrs of the July uprising. He made these remarks during a national gathering at Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday, July 19.

Mia Golam Parwar stated, “If the people give us the responsibility of state power, our first priority will be to ensure proper respect for the martyrs, rehabilitate their families, and provide medical treatment for the injured. We will fulfill this commitment.”

He further elaborated that the gathering was held to demand justice for all mass killings, implement necessary fundamental reforms, realize the July Charter and Declaration, rehabilitate the families of the martyrs and injured from the July uprising, introduce proportional representation (PR) in national elections, ensure voting rights for expatriates, and establish a level playing field for all political parties before national elections.
