In Madaripur’s Shivchar, a man named Haydar Munshi (40) was allegedly attacked and injured by opponents over a dispute regarding jute cutting on contested land. The incident occurred on Wednesday (July 30) at noon in the ‘Hazrat Ali Bepari Kandi’ village of Kadirpur Union.
According to locals, there has been a long-standing land dispute between Yunus Munshi and Shahabuddin Bepari from the same village. On Wednesday noon, when Yunus Munshi, along with his son Haydar Munshi and others, went to cut jute on the disputed land, Shahabuddin Bepari and his associates intervened, leading to an altercation. The situation escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Haydar Munshi was attacked with sharp weapons, leaving him seriously injured. Family members rescued Haydar and admitted him to the Shivchar Upazila Health Complex. Due to his deteriorating condition, he was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The police have stated that legal action will be taken regarding the incident. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shivchar Police Station, Azhar Ali (Sumon), said, “An investigation is underway, and legal action will be taken against those found guilty.”
