At Colombo's Premadasa Stadium, Mehedi Hasan's spin wizardry dismantled Sri Lanka's batting lineup. Breaking a 13-year-old record set by Harbhajan Singh, Mehedi now stands as the top-performing foreign bowler at Premadasa—not just a personal triumph but also the driving force behind Bangladesh’s commanding 8-wicket victory. With this win, Bangladesh clinched the series 2-1.

In the series-deciding match, Mehedi took the ball from the outset and delivered a stunning performance—4 wickets for just 11 runs in 4 overs! This remarkable bowling spell surpassed Harbhajan Singh’s 2012 record of 4-12 against England. Previously, Josh Hazlewood (4-16) and Mustafizur Rahman (4-21) had come close, but Mehedi ultimately scripted history.

Mehedi struck early, dismissing Kusal Perera for a golden duck. Within the powerplay, he sent back Dinesh Chandimal, followed by captain Charith Asalanka and opener Pathum Nissanka, who was batting on 46. His impeccable line, length, and varied spin choked the Lankan batting order. Remarkably, this was Mehedi’s first match of the tour. Despite being overlooked for two Tests, three ODIs, and the first two T20Is, he seized the opportunity in place of Mehedi Hasan Miraz, proving his mettle. **Mehedi’s Magical Spell Puts Lanka Under Pressure** Chasing a modest 133, Bangladesh cruised to victory, led by opener Tanzid Hasan’s explosive unbeaten 73 off 47 balls, including 6 sixes. Losing just 2 wickets, the Tigers reached the target with 21 balls to spare.
