A case has been filed against 18 individuals, including the vice-president and joint general secretary of Bandarban district Awami League, for vandalizing the Zia Smriti Sangsad office in Bandarban. The incident occurred in the early hours of July 14, 2025, and was reported on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
The case was lodged by Abul Kalam, vice-president of Bandarban district Jubo Dal. The accused include A K M Jahangir, Mozammel Haque Bahadur, Shamsul Islam, Nazmul Hasan Bhuiyan, Rashed Chowdhury, Anisur Rahman Sujan, Shibu Chowdhury, Jamal Chowdhury, Bimal Kanti Das, Rubel Chowdhury, Raju Barua, Monir Chowdhury, Khalilur Rahman, Rana Chowdhury, Mahiuddin, Nasir Chowdhury, Nur Mohammad Kalu, and Sohel Bhandari.
According to local sources and the case details, between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM on July 14, a group chanting “Joy Bangla” slogans attacked the Zia Smriti Sangsad office located in Ward No. 7 of Bandarban Municipality. The assailants damaged furniture, a television, windowpanes, and other items. Additionally, they detonated cocktails to create chaos, leading to the filing of the case against them.
