Mentally Unstable Person Found with Over 84,000 Taka in Dashmina

In Patuakhali’s Dashmina Upazila, a mentally unstable person was found in possession of 84,625 Taka. The discovery was made on Wednesday afternoon at around 4:30 PM when members of a humanitarian organization affiliated with Dashmina Chhatra Dal bathed the individual and recovered the money.

According to reports, the mentally unstable person had been residing in various areas of Dashmina Upazila for the past 5 to 6 months, eventually settling near the Dashmina Sadar Union Parishad at Ershad Hossain’s tea stall, where he spent his days and nights. The individual remained silent most of the time and did not interact with people. When locals inquired about his identity, he could only mention that his home was in Ghoshkathali, Mathbaria Upazila, Pirojpur district. He refused to eat ordinary food and had a specific menu, which included high-quality yogurt, one plate of rice, ten plates of beef, ten pieces of fish, and ten pieces of chicken roast, but he would only accept food from a specific person who provided these items. He always wore thick clothing and had matted, long hair.

On Wednesday afternoon around 3:30 PM, Abul Bashar, an advisor to the Dashmina Chhatra Dal’s humanitarian organization, arranged for the man’s hair to be cut, bathed him, and dressed him in clean clothes. They also provided food according to his preferences. During this process, 84,625 Taka was found in two bags he was carrying. The recovered money was handed over to the Dashmina Police Station. Abul Bashar, an advisor to the organization and a Chhatra Dal leader, said, “Around 3:30 PM, we approached him, bathed him, and arranged for his food. At that time, we found the money in his possession and handed both the cash and the individual over to the police.” The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dashmina Police Station, Abdul Alim, stated, “I was in Khulna, but I will look into the matter upon my return.”
