The authorities of Milestone School and College issued a statement detailing the casualties and the situation following the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet in the area. According to the statement released on Thursday, the school had already been dismissed at the time of the crash, leaving only a small number of students waiting for their guardians.
The statement noted that the fighter jet crashed between approximately 1:12 PM and 1:14 PM. As the school had been dismissed at 1:00 PM, only a few students were present, awaiting their guardians.
The school authorities provided a list of casualties and missing persons resulting from the incident. A total of 22 people lost their lives, including 18 students, two teachers, and two guardians. Additionally, 51 individuals were seriously injured, comprising 40 students, seven teachers, one guardian, one nanny, and one peon. The identity of one injured person was not disclosed in the statement. Furthermore, five individuals remain missing, including three students and two guardians.
Milestone School and College formed an investigation committee on Tuesday to probe the incident. The committee is continuing to update the details of the casualties and missing persons, according to the school authorities.
The school expressed gratitude for the support provided by interim government advisors, the Health Ministry, the Education Ministry, BNCC, Rover Scouts, Red Crescent, guardians, and local residents. The Health Directorate and the Bangladesh Air Force have arranged advanced medical care for the injured. The Bangladesh Air Force has also established an emergency cell to coordinate medical treatment and support services.
