No Plan to Relocate Fighter Jet Base from Dhaka: Air Force

Dhaka, July 28, 2025: The Bangladesh Air Force has stated that there is no plan to relocate the fighter jet base from Dhaka, emphasizing its critical role in ensuring the capital’s air defense and security. This statement was made by Air Commodore Shahidul Islam, Director of Air Operations, during a press conference held on Monday (July 28) at the Bangladesh Aviation and Aerospace University in Tejgaon, following a recent aircraft crash at Milestone School and College in the capital.

Responding to journalists’ questions about whether the fighter jet training base in Dhaka would be relocated, Air Commodore Shahidul Islam said, “This base is vital for securing the capital’s airspace. Many countries around the world maintain similar bases in their capital cities.”

At the press conference, Air Commodore Md. Mizanur Rahman, Chief Coordinator of the Air Force’s Emergency Coordination Center, addressed the aircraft crash incident. He stated, “On the day of the incident, the Bangladesh Air Force participated in rescue operations, and a high-level investigation committee was formed on the same day. A team of experts from China is likely to assist in the investigation. International cooperation will help identify the root cause of the accident.”

He further assured, “The Air Force will provide full support to all victims and those injured in the incident. We will continue to offer all necessary assistance for as long as required.”
